X Faces Outages, Leaving Users Frustrated on Monday Morning
Thousands of users found themselves unable to access Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, on Monday morning, sparking frustration and confusion across the U.S.
According to Downdetector, which tracks online service disruptions, the issues began around 5:30 AM ET, with more than 20,000 users reporting problems. Just as things seemed to return to normal after about an hour, the outages struck again at 9:30 AM ET, this time affecting over 40,000 users.
By 10:30 AM ET, some users reported that they could access the platform again, but for many, the problems persisted. Silence from X only added to the frustration, as the company has yet to address the cause of the disruption.
For a platform as large as X, occasional outages aren’t uncommon, but that doesn’t make them any less frustrating—especially when they happen at the worst possible time. As one user vented on Downdetector, “On day 1 of the NFL free agency!? ELON Fix this.”
With millions relying on X for news, updates, and conversations, such outages serve as a harsh reminder of how much we’ve come to depend on these digital spaces—and how powerless we feel when they suddenly go dark.
