Microsoft Might Be Bringing 3D Gaming to Copilot

It looks like Microsoft is exploring the world of 3D gaming for Copilot, its AI-powered chatbot platform. A recent job listing suggests that the company is actively seeking talent to make this vision a reality.

The job posting, published this week, is for a senior software engineer based in Beijing. The ideal candidate should have expertise in 3D rendering engines commonly used for web-based gaming, such as Babylon.js, three.js, and Unity.

Microsoft Might Be Bringing 3D Gaming to Copilot

The job description itself is quite exciting:

"Are you passionate about gaming and interested in building innovative solutions for billions of users? If you have a background in gaming or simply love it, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!"

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has hinted at bringing gaming into Copilot. The company has previously stated that gaming will play a bigger role in Copilot’s future.

Back in February, Microsoft demonstrated an AI model called Muse, which is designed to bring short, interactive games to Copilot. Muse has been trained using Ninja Theory’s multiplayer battle game Bleeding Edge. What makes it special? It understands the game’s physics, the 3D world, and how players interact with it. This allows AI to dynamically generate gameplay in real-time.

Microsoft’s gaming ambitions for Copilot don’t stop there. Last May, the company announced plans to integrate Copilot into video games, starting with Minecraft. During the demo, Copilot assisted players by answering questions like “How do I craft a sword?”, checking their inventory for necessary materials, and even guiding them on how to gather missing items.

In yet another move to make Copilot more engaging, Microsoft has been experimenting with character-based AI features. Earlier this year, reverse engineer Alexey Shabanov discovered two animated characters within Copilot that interact with users using sound effects and animations.

All these developments suggest that Microsoft is serious about blending AI and gaming in ways we haven’t seen before. If these experiments turn into reality, Copilot might soon become an interactive, AI-powered gaming assistant that enhances how we play.
