Samsung Brings AI Features to Older Devices
Samsung is making its latest Galaxy AI features available to users of older devices, so you don’t need to buy the latest smartphone or foldable to enjoy them.
In a recent announcement, Samsung revealed the release of One UI 6.1.1, which brings advanced AI tools to various devices through a new update. Previously exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, these features are now being rolled out to the S24, S23, and S23 FE series, as well as the older Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Tab S9.
New AI Tools for Better Communication
Samsung is adding several AI-powered tools to make communication easier. The Interpreter tool is already popular, and now Listening Mode will also be available, along with one-way translation.
Chat Assist is another exciting feature that helps users write emails or social media posts. You just type in a few keywords, and the AI generates a message in your own writing style. The Suggested Replies tool, previously only on the Z Flip 6, is now available on the S24 series. It lets you send quick replies from your Galaxy Watch Ultra or Galaxy Watch 7 when connected to your phone.
Boosting Productivity
For productivity, Samsung’s new Note Assist helps with translating and summarizing notes during meetings. The update also includes a transcript feature that converts voice recordings into notes.
PDF Overlay Translation is another useful tool that translates text within PDF files, even inside graphs and images. Circle to Search speeds up search results and helps solve complex math problems step by step. Samsung is also introducing Sound Search, which can identify songs playing around you, and Sketch to Image, which enhances photos based on your sketches.
Creative Tools for Content Creation
For content creators, new features like Portrait Studio allow users to create professional portraits in various styles. Instant Slow-Mo is another highlight, enabling you to slow down videos without losing image quality.
The update started rolling out in Korea on September 5th for the Galaxy S24 series, and will arrive in North America and Europe by September 9th. For other Galaxy devices, the update is expected in the coming weeks.
