Microsoft Unveils Surface Pro 11 with 5G, but Only for Business Users
Microsoft is getting ready to launch a series of new devices for business customers later this month. These include the Surface Pro 10, Surface Pro 11 with 5G, and the Surface Laptop 7. While these devices were initially introduced to consumers as part of Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC lineup in June, they are now being made available for corporate users.
Surface Pro 11 with 5G for Business
The Surface Pro 11 for business users will offer optional 5G and an NFC reader for password-free authentication, making it an appealing option for those who need secure access. In terms of hardware, it’s similar to the consumer version and comes with options like Snapdragon X Plus or Elite processors, up to 32GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and an optional OLED display. Pre-orders for the Wi-Fi models will start on September 10, and for the 5G models on September 26. A consumer version with 5G is expected to follow later this year, which will be particularly useful for workers who travel and need reliable internet access without depending on Wi-Fi.
Surface Laptop 7, Surface Pro 10, and Surface Keyboard
The Surface Laptop 7 for business will also be available from September 10 and comes in 13.8” and 15” display sizes. Like the Surface Pro 11, it offers Snapdragon X Plus and Elite processors, up to 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage.
The Surface Pro 10, launching on September 26, features Intel’s last-generation Core Ultra processors, a 33% brighter anti-glare LCD display, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. It supports configurations with Core Ultra 5 or Ultra 7 chips, up to 64GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. This model also includes an NFC reader and can be used in both laptop and tablet modes with the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard.
Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 with Intel Core Ultra processors to business clients. The Surface Pro 10, featuring a dedicated Copilot button and a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), allows for enhanced AI tasks in Windows 11, offering better connectivity, display, and battery performance.
Additionally, starting October 3, Microsoft will release a new Surface Keyboard with a full-size design and a Copilot key for quick access to AI tools in Windows 11, such as Call Mute and Snip & Sketch. This keyboard is designed for in-office use, especially for users who work with multiple monitors or prefer a larger typing surface.
In related news, Microsoft has also announced a September 16 event called “Microsoft 365 Copilot: Wave 2.” At the event, CEO Satya Nadella and AI VP Jared Spataro will showcase new AI features for Microsoft 365, likely including updates to Copilot Pro and possible rebranding as Microsoft continues to advance in the AI space.
