Microsoft Brings Copilot Plus AI Features to Intel and AMD Laptops: All You Need to Know
Microsoft has mostly focused on Qualcomm-powered devices for its Copilot Plus features, but now the company is expanding to include Intel and AMD laptops. Starting in November, Windows AI features will be available on a wider range of laptops, including those with Intel and AMD processors.
These new features include Auto Super Resolution (a competitor to DLSS), Live Captions that translate speech, Windows Studio Effects, and Cocreator. Devices with Intel Core Ultra 200V and AMD Ryzen AI chips, running the latest version of Windows, will get these updates for free.
Microsoft is rolling out these AI features gradually. Some will be available on all devices, while others will go through Windows Insider testing before reaching everyone.
Additionally, Microsoft plans to bring Recall AI to Copilot Plus, a feature delayed due to privacy concerns. Recall AI tracks what you do on your computer to give better answers, but it was postponed in July because it was considered too invasive. It’s expected to be available to Windows Insider testers in October before becoming more widely available.
Meanwhile, laptops powered by AMD's Ryzen AI 300 series, like the Asus ZenBook 16 and HP OmniBook Ultra 14, are already on the market. Intel plans to release Core Ultra 200V-powered laptops soon. These new Intel chips are up to 50% more power efficient than last year's models and can support up to three 4K monitors with an impressive 67 trillion operations per second (TOPS).
The Intel Core Ultra Series 2 combines 120 TOPS across the CPU, GPU, and NPU, making it a powerful upgrade for AI-based tasks.
