TikTok Rolls Out Group Chats for Easier Sharing
Key Takeaways
- TikTok now lets users create group chats with up to 32 friends.
- You can start a group chat from your inbox or directly from a post.
- Stickers have also been added to TikTok’s Direct Messages.
TikTok is stepping up its social game by introducing a group chat feature for users aged 16 and older. Until now, TikTok didn’t offer group chats, unlike other platforms like Instagram. This new feature allows you to create a group chat with up to 32 people, making it easier to share content with multiple friends at once instead of individually.
Starting a Group Chat:
You can set up a group chat on TikTok in two ways:
- From Your Inbox: Head to your inbox, tap on "Chat" at the top, pick the friends you want to include, and select "Start group chat."
- From a Post: While watching a video, tap the share button, choose “Create group chat with friends,” pick who you want to add, write a message about the video, and tap "Send."
Important to Note:
- Only friends or followers you follow back can invite you to a group chat.
- If you’re under 18, you can only join a group chat if there’s at least one mutual friend in it.
Besides group chats, TikTok is also introducing stickers to Direct Messages. You can choose from pre-made stickers or create and upload your own, making your chats with friends more lively and fun.
