Google Search to Limit Results on Desktop Browsers Soon: What You Need to Know
Google is set to switch to a pagination format for search results, meaning the initial search page will show fewer results, with additional results available on subsequent pages.
Starting June 26, Google will remove continuous scrolling from desktop search results, with mobile following in the coming months. According to Search Engine Land, a Google spokesperson confirmed the change, which reverts to the old system where users click "Next" or select a page number at the bottom of the search results. On mobile devices, users will need to tap "More results" to see additional pages.
Google explained that this shift aims to deliver search results faster by loading only the results users explicitly request. Continuous scrolling, introduced for mobile in October 2021 and for desktop in late 2022, will be phased out to improve performance.
This update coincides with Google's rollout of Gemini AI in workspace apps like Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive, as announced at the I/O developers conference in May.
