Google Unveils Exciting Upgrades to Gemini AI Chatbot, But Two Key Regions Still Await App Access
Google Expands Gemini AI Chatbot Globally with New Language Support, Still Unavailable in EU and UK Regions
Google has recently introduced significant updates to its Gemini AI chatbot, making the app accessible "globally" across more than 150 countries for both Android and iOS users. However, notable exceptions include the EU and UK territories, where availability is still pending regulatory considerations and alignment with AI principles.
The expansion includes support for additional languages within the Gemini app, such as Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese, enhancing its capabilities for writing assistance, planning, learning, and more. Google emphasizes the importance of making AI accessible in diverse languages on users' preferred devices.
Furthermore, the Extensions feature within Gemini now supports over 40 new languages, enabling real-time information access from Google apps like YouTube, Maps, Flights, and Hotels. Users can leverage Extensions to interact with personal content from Gmail, Docs, and Drive, maintaining control over privacy settings.
To engage with Gemini, users can simply type '@gemini' followed by their query in the Chrome address bar, initiating a response from the AI chatbot.
