Google Enhances Workspace, Meet, and Chat with New AI Tools

Google's newest suite of business technology tools will be unveiled later this year, but you can get a sneak peek and learn about them right here.

Google is integrating AI-powered features into its Workspace business suite, introducing new capabilities to existing Workspace accounts and launching paid add-ons priced at $10 per user per month.

Additionally, Google Meet is receiving its own add-on featuring autotranslation and automatic note-taking services, enabling users to fully engage in calls without manual note-taking.

While it's common for tech companies to introduce new AI tools, Google's business software remains among the most widely used workplace tool suites. Here are the latest tools unveiled at Google's recent Cloud-focused event.

Google Workspace Gets a New Video Editing App, Google Vids

Google recently unveiled a significant business-oriented tool called Google Vids, designed to integrate video creation and editing seamlessly into the Google Workspace software suite. This tool has diverse applications, ranging from product presentations and "About Us" videos to social media marketing and workplace safety training clips.

Google Vids will be seamlessly integrated alongside other Google Workspace apps like Docs and Slides, offering complete interoperability. It can generate storyboards and even produce a preliminary draft using stock video clips and images that users can customize for their specific needs.

Scheduled for release in June 2024 as part of Workspace, Google Vids will be available without the need for a paid add-on.

Better AI Security for Workspace

Google Workspace is introducing a new AI Security add-on priced at $10 per user per month.

This service promises to enhance Gmail spam detection by 20% through its ability to process "1,000 times" more user-reported spam daily. Additionally, it includes advanced tools that enable IT teams to automatically identify and manage sensitive files stored within a business's Google Drive account.

Google Meet and Chat Embrace AI Innovations

Google is unveiling yet another AI-driven enhancement for its already advanced video conferencing solution. The new Gemini-powered AI Meetings and Messaging add-on, priced at $10 per user per month, will be accessible for "most" Google Workspace plans.

This add-on includes a "Take notes for me" feature that automatically generates meeting notes, as well as a "Translate for me" tool capable of auto-translating 69 different languages—an invaluable asset for those who don't speak the majority of those languages.

Furthermore, these auto-translation and conversation summary tools will also be integrated into Google Chat sometime in 2024.
